General FAQs

  • What is Be Social Richmond (BSR)?
    Be Social Richmond (BSR) started in 2010 as a cornhole league and has expanded into other activities over the years. BSR is Richmond Virginia's answer for an affordable social sports experience. Our growth over time has allowed us to expand into providing additional services. We invite you to spend some time exploring our website and Facebook page. BSR strives to provide maximum entertainment for a reasonable cost.
  • How do I pay on-line?
    Click the "Checkout with PayPal" button whether you wish to pay with a PayPal account or with a Debit/Credit card.
    • If you have a PayPal account you can simply log in when prompted and following the PayPal payment prompts.
      • If you have funds in your PayPal account they will be used first
      • If you have a bank account linked to PayPal it would pull funds from there next
      • If you have a credit or debit card linked to your PayPal account it would pull funds from there
    • If you do not have a PayPal account or want to pay without using your PayPal account, click the "Pay with Debit or Credit Card" or "Don't have a PayPal account" option where you can checkout using your credit/debit card as a guest.

  • Are there any age requirements?
    Check the info tab on the activity you’re interested in to learn about any age restrictions for that activity.
  • What happens if there is bad weather or some sort of disaster?
    To see if events/games are delayed or canceled you can check the Be Social Richmond website where a yellow alert bar will display at the top of the page.
    Any cancellation will be posted at least 1 hour prior to the start time of the earliest games that day. If there is no posting by that time assume the event is on. After 1 hour before game time, any cancellations will be done at the location by the BSR staff.
  • What about policies, rules, or things not covered in the FAQ or rules for the activity?
    Be Social Richmond reserves the right to modify any rules or policies as needed. See the Chief Ref if at an event or email info@besocialrichmond.com
  • How can I learn more about Be Social Richmond activities and when they start?

  • What do I do if I forgot my password?
    You can go to the Sign In page and follow the steps to perform a password reset. A link will be generated and emailed to your registered email address and you can click that link to create a new password.
    (1) If you haven’t received a password reset email please check your spam folder.
    (2) The password reset email link expires after 24 hours.
    (3) To have a new password reset link sent to you, go to the Be Social Richmond website and request a new password reset.
  • What do I do to confirm my email address?
    When you created an account, an email with a link was sent to you to confirm your email address. You must click the link in the email to confirm your email address and activate your account.
    (1) If you haven’t received an email confirmation email please check your spam folder.
    (2) The email confirmation link expires after 24 hours.
    (3) To have a new email confirmation link sent to you, go to the Be Social Richmond website and sign in with your username and password you made when you setup your Be Social Richmond account.

League FAQs

  • What does it cost?
    Check the info tab on each league page for sport details for each sport.

  • Team rosters
    It is the team captain’s responsibility to ensure their roster has the minimum number of paid players no later than 20 days before the start of the season. Team captains have the ability to pay for unpaid players on their teams and can then collect that money from those players at a later date. Failure to meet this requirement can result in the team being dissolved, paid players distributed to other team, and forfeiture of the team deposit.
        NOTE: the exception is for the captain of a free agent team that was formed by BSR
  • Joining leagues
    • How do I register a team?
      On the home page, the first section under the menus, there is a registration section that displays all active open registrations; simply click on a link to register a team. The same link can be found on the Info tab for each league.
      Once you’ve registered a team a link will be provided for you to share with those whom you’d like to have join your team.
    • What is the team deposit?
      The deposit from team captains is held to ensure teams fill out to the minimum number of players needed for the team. After the registration deadline teams with full rosters will be refunded their deposit. A deposit will only be held if a team is unable to fill out it's roster, including free agents.
    • Can I register a partial team?
      You could register a team, get as many friends to join your team, and then request BSR fill out your roster with free agents.
      Or you could register as a free agent, in the comments state you would volunteer to captain a team, and then have your friends join you as free agents using a link you can provide them from “my teams” found under your email in the top right when your logged in. This will put you all on the same team together.
    • How do I register with one or more friends so we can all be on the same team together?
      One of you will need to register first. After your registration is completed you will be provided a link you can share with friends and this will put you on the same team together.
    • How do I register myself (Free Agent)?
      On the home page, the first section under the menus, there is a registration section that displays all active open registrations; simply click on a link to register as a Free Agent. The same link can be found on the Info tab for each league.
      Once you’ve registered a link will be provided for you to share with those whom you’d like to have join you on the team your added to.
    • How do I get added to a team my friend is on?
      Your friend will need to provide you a registration link. They can find this link under “my teams” in the top right when they are logged in. Once they provide a link to you simply click it and register.
    • How can my friend and I be put on the same team if we are free agents?
      One of you will need to register first. After your registration is completed you will be provided a link you can share with friends and this will put you on the same team together.
    • How do my friends join my team?
      You will need to provide them a link. You can obtain a link after your registration is completed. The link can be found under “my teams” in the top right when your logged in.
    • Where do I find a link to provide to my friends so we can play on the same team?
      Once you have completed registering for a league (as a free agent or team captain).
      - log into the website (top right)
      - click on your email in the top right and select “my teams”
      - below the league your registered for will be a link you can provide
      Simply provide that link to your friend.
    • Are subs allowed?
      Be Social Richmond strongly discourages subs but effective 1 Oct 2016 subs will conditionally be allowed. Following are the conditions:
      (1) Subs must arrive and speak to BSR staff at least 5 minutes before game published start time. Subs will not be allowed after less than 5 minutes before game time.
      (2) Subs will need to wear an appropriate tshirt (see the league tshirt policy in the FAQ) Subs wearing a non qualifying shirt will not be allowed to participate
      (3) Subs will need to complete a Sub waiver form, BSR staff will have that form at the field
      (4) Subs will need to pay a $5 cash participation fee after signing the waiver and before playing. Pay to the BSR staff that provided the waiver to be signed. Bring exact $, we will be unable to break larger bills. (1 $5 bill or 5 $1 bills, no change)
      (5) Subs will be expected to follow all league rules; we recommend subs review league rules before participating
      (6) Subs are NOT allowed to participate in end of season tournaments
      (7) Subs may not sub for more than one team for a given sports season
      (8) Subs may not sub more than two nights in any given sports season
      (9) Subs must complete a waiver and pay the sub participation fee each time they sub
  • Until what time can players join teams?
    Additional players may be added to teams through the 3rd week of the season.
  • When will the league schedule be published?
    League schedules will be posted on the Be Social Richmond website no later than 7 days before the season begins.
  • I joined as a Free Agent, when will I be assigned to a team?
    You will receive notification of what team you are assigned to no later than 7 days before the season begins. (At the same time when the schedule is published)
  • When will we receive our tshirts?
    Tshirts will be handed out the first night starting roughly 20 minutes before games are played. If you registered and paid by the registration deadline your shirt will be available week 1. If you completed registering and paying after the registration deadline expect to receive your tshirt before your games on week 4 of the season. See FAQ on what to do until your shirt is ready.
  • Can we change our tshirt colors or tshirt types?
    Team tshirt colors can be changed up through the registration deadline, depending on remaining color availability.
  • Can we change our team name?
    Team names may be changed up through the registration deadline.
  • What is the difference between the skill levels?
    For Fun = Those learning the activity and who are focused on the social aspect
    Chilling = Those who understand the activity and want to balance that with having fun
    Got’s Skills = For those experienced players who are skilled in the activity
  • Can we change what level we are playing?
    Teams may change their level up through the registration deadline.
  • How long are seasons, what nights are games on, and how long will we play for?
    Check the info tab on each league page for sport details for each sport. Typically games are played Monday through Thursday between 6pm and 10pm.
  • What is the refund policy?
    After the registration deadline fees become non-refundable. Before the registration closes a refund of league fees minus $10 for administrative costs is available by contacting us at info@besocialrichmond.com.
  • What happens if I register but don’t pay?
    Be Social Richmond will try to contact you to arrange payment. If you do not hear from us within a week after registration please login and check your registration email. If your registration email is correct please check your spam folder and then add besocialrichmond.com to your safe list. Finally, email us at info@besocialrichmond.com
     
    Registrations will be deleted if payment is not received by 15 days before the season start date for registrations received 22 or more days before the season start date. Or after 4 days for registrations received after 22 days before the season start date.
  • Can I alter my league tshirt?
    League shirts can be altered, but the alterations cannot impact the logos on the front or back of the shirts in any way. Doing so will render the shirt illegal. Replacement shirts can be ordered. (special order). League shirts must be completely visible at all times during league play. League shirts must be worn over a person’s torso the way the shirt was intended to be worn. Any alterations to the shirt that impact logos or failure to properly wear league shirts will result in that player being ineligible to play while wearing that tshirt. Check each league’s rules page for any activity specific tshirt rules or requirements.
  • How can get a replacement or second league tshirt?
    Players have the ability to order replacement tshirts during the first two weeks of the regular season through the BSR website. You can also contact us at info@besocialrichmond.com and we will work with you to get you a new shirt if the late in season order has not already been sent.
  • What if I don’t have or forget my league tshirt one night?

    If you attempt to participate in a league game and are not wearing your league tshirt you need to check in with BSR staff/referee prior to the games starting. Expect that the referee will ask for a valid photo ID so you can be verified against the registered players for your team. Registered players will be allowed to participate if the non league tshirt they are wearing meets the following criteria:
    (1) the color of the shirt is either all white, all black, or all the same color as your teams league tshirts.
    (2) the shirt does NOT have any writing, logos, or images on it. HINT: turn the shirt inside out
     
    If you're on the team roster and the shirt your wearing meets both of the criteria listed above you will be allowed to participate w/o wearing a league tshirt.
     
    In the case of inclement weather (cold or raining) players may wear a jacket, hoodie, or rain coat over your league tshirt.
     
    ***** We recommend keeping an extra qualifying shirt in your vehicle in case you forget it one week. *****

  • Will canceled games be rescheduled?
    Up to two weeks of weather cancelations will be rescheduled for makeup for each league.
  • What about games that were stopped early?
    For Leagues - Any completed games will be counted as normal. Any games in progress or any games yet to start will not count and will not be made up.

Tournaments FAQs

  • What does it cost?
    For tournaments team captains will pay the team fee for their team when they register their team fee

  • How does I register a team?
    Team registration links can be found in multiple locations on the BSR website to include on the main site landing page and tournament specific info pages.
  • How do I join a team?
    Team captains will have a registration link they can share with players they wish to have join their team. When these players register they will esign the waiver. To get the link ask your team captain.
     
    Team captain: the link can be found in the registration confirmation email you received and can be found anytime on the website by logging in, clicking on your email in the top right, selecting my teams, and then selecting the tournament team in question
  • How do I join as a free agent?
    At this time we do not offer a process for free agents to join tournaments. We recommend posting a comment on the BSR Facebook page under the online AD for the tournament your interested in participating in. www.facebook.com/besocialrichmond
  • When can I register?
    Registration links will become active on the website on both the main landing page and tournament specific info page while registration for the tournament is open. Check each tournaments info page for specific registration, late registration, and event dates.
  • How long will the tournament last?
    While a tournament could run as short as 3 hours or as long as 8+ hours; typically we target tournaments to last 4-5 hours. Factors like the number of teams involved, weather, and number of games that can run at the same time factor into the actual tournament length.
  • What do you get for winning?
    Check the info page for each tournament as each tournament is independent from another. Any awards for winning will depend on the sport, number of teams, sponsors, and other factors like these mentioned.
  • What is the refund policy?
    Team registration fees are non-refundable.
    Exception: If Be Social Richmond has to cancel both the originally scheduled and the makeup day the team captain will be provided a code to register for a future league with a value equal to the team fee paid for the tournament minus $10 for administrative costs.
  • What happens if there is bad weather or some sort of disaster?
    To see if events/games are delayed or canceled you can check in two places:
    (1) Be Social Richmond Facebook page
    (2) Be Social Richmond website where a yellow alert bar will display at the top of the page
    Any cancellation will be posted at least 1 hour prior to the start time of the earliest event/game that day. If there is no posting by that time assume the event is on. After 1 hour before event/game time, any cancellations will be done at the location by the BSR staff.
  • What happens if the tournament is canceled?
    Each tournament will have one makeup date posted. A canceled tournament will then be run on the makeup date. If the makeup date is also canceled; there will be no additional makeup dates.
  • What happens if the tournament is stopped early?
    Any tournament that has run for longer than 1 hours will be considered official. If the makeup date is available the tournament may be continued on that date. If the early stoppage prevents a tournament winner from being identified and the tournament had cash & prize awards. The cash and prizes will either all be donated to charity or added to the prize pool for the next tournament for that sport. (BSR mgt will decide in the days following the tournament).
