Tournment Rules

When playing games against a new team for the first time use the “rock, paper, scissors” methodology to determine which team throws first.
  • Alternate which team throws first for additional games in the same match vs the same opponent
Where to stand each game
  • The team that that throws first will send one player out to the board to claim one of the 4 available spots and side for their team
  • Then the opponent will send one player to either of the two open slots on the other side of the boards
  • This leaves the remaining players from each team to fill in the available slots
Teams will alternate throwing 1 bag at a time
  • Before throwing the first bag both teams should agree on the current game score
DO NOT REMOVE ANY BAGS before both teams agree on the results from that throw and both teams agree on the game score
  • Any team that removes bags early where there is a dispute can expect to be penalized by any rulings from BSR staff as to deciding the game score
Teams win a game after scoring 21 or more points
  • Points are scored by = 1 point for a bag on the board, 3 points for a bag that goes through the hole
  • Cancelation scoring; Example:  Team A throws 2 bags on the board.  Team B throws 3 bags on the board.  The result is team B gets credit for 1 bag on the board or 1 point.
  • Any bag that touches the ground will not count, immediately get picked up, and not be rethrown that round
After each match both teams need to report the results to BSR staff to update the tournament bracket.
There is an imaginary line extending across the front of the cornhole board.  No player can throw in front of that line.  Players are allowed 1 warning, after that any bag thrown will not count.  This must be pointed out by the other team at the time of the infraction.
Players must throw from the side of the board their team is playing on.
