    • What do I have to do before I can register for a league?

You must first register on the BSR website.  Click register in the top right corner.  You will be asked to provide some information like your name, gender, email, zip code, etc…  After registering you will be sent a confirmation email that will contain a link you must click to verify your email before you can register.  If you do not receive a registration confirmation email within 10 minutes please check your spam folder; if the email is not there send an email to info@besocialrichmond.com and ask for help
NOTE: email verification links expire after 24 hours

    • Do I have to pay online?

BSR is designed to run efficiently to help keep our prices generally $10 or more less per player than other leagues charge.  Taking payments online is a factor in this.  Players can pay online with a credit card, debit card, or transfer from a PayPal account though our PayPal checkout portal.  (you do not need a PayPal account to use the portal)

    • How do I pay online if I didn’t do so when registering?

    • The registration link I was provided is not working; what do I do?

The primary causes for registration links now working are:
        (1) You have not registered on the BSR website before trying to register for a league
        (2) You were not logged in when trying to use the link
        (3) You were provided an incomplete link; sometimes folks copy and paste but do not get all the extra letters and numbers
        (4) The link may have expired
If your pretty sure your issue is not one of the top 3 send an email to who provided you the link and info@besocialrichmond.com and we will get you squared away

    • What is the difference between the skill levels?

For Fun = Those learning the activity and who are focused on the social aspect
Chilling = Those who understand the activity and want to balance that with having fun
Gots Skills = For those experienced players who are skilled in the activity

Skill levels help us to assign players to teams and when we have enough teams split the leagues into equally skilled divisions

    • When are league schedules published?

League schedules will be posted on the Be Social Richmond website no later than 7 days before the season begins

    • Player Requirements
      • All players must be listed on the roster. Players will also need to sign the Be Social Richmond waiver for that league.
      • Players must be 21+ years old at the start of the season.
      • Players can only play for a single team and are required to wear the league t-shirt during games.
        • If you don’t have your league t-shirt for any reason or want to alter your t-shirt, see our FAQ for details.
      • All players are expected to play with good sportsman-like conduct and to respect their own teams, their opponents, and the ref(s). Don’t forget, this is a social league.
    • Are subs allowed?

Be Social Richmond strongly discourages subs but they are conditionally allowed. Following are the conditions:
      (1) Subs must arrive and speak to BSR staff at least 5 minutes before game published start time. Subs will not be allowed after less than 5 minutes before game time.
      (2) Subs will need to wear an appropriate tshirt (see the league tshirt policy in the FAQ) Subs wearing a non-qualifying shirt will not be allowed to participate
      (3) Subs will need to complete a Sub waiver form, BSR staff will have that form at the field
      (4) Subs will need to pay a $5 cash participation fee after signing the waiver and before playing. Pay to the BSR staff that provided the waiver to be signed. Bring exact $, we will be unable to break larger bills. (1 $5 bill or 5 $1 bills, no change)
      (5) Subs will be expected to follow all league rules; we recommend subs review league rules before participating
      (6) Subs are NOT allowed to participate in end of season tournaments
as of 2/1/2022 - Any team using a sub for EOS playoffs/tournaments will not be allowed to advance beyond their initially scheduled game, their opponent will automatically advance regardless of the games results, and any team using a sub in the playoffs may not win a championship
      (7) Subs may not sub for more than one team for a given sports season
      (8) Subs may not sub more than three nights in any given sports season
      (9) Subs must complete a waiver and pay the sub participation fee each time they sub

    • When and how will I receive my league tshirt?

At this time league tshirts will be handed out the first night starting roughly 20 minutes before games are played.
       - If you registered and paid by the registration deadline your shirt will be available week 1.
       - If you completed registering and paying after the registration deadline expect to receive your tshirt before your games on week 4 of the season.
See FAQ on what to do until your shirt is ready

    • What if I paid late and have not received a league tshirt or forget my league tshirt one night?

If you attempt to participate in a league game and are not wearing your league tshirt you need to check in with BSR staff/referee prior to the games starting.  Expect that the referee will ask for a valid photo ID so you can be verified against the paid registered players for your team.

Registered players will be allowed to participate if the non-league tshirt they are wearing meets the following criteria:
      (1) the color of the shirt is either all white, all black, or all the same color as your teams league tshirts
      (2) the shirt does NOT have any writing, logos, or images on it
HINT: turn the shirt inside out

In the case of inclement weather (cold or raining) players may wear a jacket, hoodie, or rain coat over your league tshirt.

***** We recommend keeping an extra qualifying shirt in your vehicle in case you forget it one week. *****

    • Can I alter my league tshirt?

League shirts can be altered, but the alterations cannot impact the logos on the front or back of the shirts in any way. Doing so will render the shirt illegal.  Replacement shirts can be special ordered through two weeks after the season starts.  League shirts must be completely visible at all times during league play.  League shirts must be worn over a person’s torso the way the shirt was intended to be worn. Any alterations to the shirt that impact logos or failure to properly wear league shirts will result in that player being ineligible to play while wearing that tshirt.
Check each league’s rules page for any activity specific tshirt rules or requirements

    • How can I order a replacement or additional league tshirt?

Players have the ability to order additional tshirts through the 2nd week after the league is scheduled to start through the BSR website.

    • What happens if there is bad weather or some sort of disaster?

To see if events/games are delayed or canceled you can check the Be Social Richmond website where a yellow alert bar will display at the top of the page.
Any cancellation will be posted at least 1 hour prior to the start time of the earliest games that day.
If there is no posting by that time assume the event is on. After 1 hour before game time, any cancellations will be done at the location by the BSR staff.

    • Will canceled games be rescheduled?

Up to two weeks of regular season games will be rescheduled for makeup and one week for playoffs
NOTE:  if cancelations are early in the season we may try and schedule double headers in later weeks

    • What about games that are stopped early?

Any completed games will be counted as normal.

Any games in progress or any games yet to start will not count and will not be made up.

    • What is the refund policy for leagues?

After registration closes all fees become non-refundable.

Before registration closes a refund of player league fees minus $10 for administrative costs is available by contacting us at info@besocialrichmond.com

Exception:  If Be Social Richmond has to cancel the league 100% of fees will be refunded.

    • Issues with league standings

If you find an issue with league standings on the website you can email us at standings@besocialrichmond.com

If the error is from BSR entering data incorrectly; we can correct that immediately.

If the error is from scores reported incorrectly or not reported at all; those will likely need to be corrected when the league plays next where both captains can verify what the new score results should be.

Exception:  Unless it was a data entry error, scores will not be updated 6 days before playoff games begin.

    • How are standings calculated for the regular season?

For the sports that play one game per night vs an opponent (example Kickball & Floorball) the SingleGameCalculator performs the following calculations (takes the first one where a tie is not calculated. If a tie is calculated, it moves on to the next item [the tie breaker]):
      1.  Win/Loss/Tie Calculated Points ((# Wins * 3) + ties)
      2.  Total Points
      3.  Head To Head
      4.  Points Scored
      5.  Points Against
      6.  Coin flip (system generated)

For the sports that play multiple games per night vs an opponent (example Dodgeball & Cornhole) the MultiGameCalculator performs the following calculations (takes the first one where a tie is not calculated. If a tie is calculated, it moves on to the next item [the tie breaker]):
      1.  Win/Loss/Tie Calculated Points ((# Wins * 3) + ties)
      2.  Total Points
      3.  Head To Head
      4.  Winning Percentage
      5.  Coin flip (system generated)

For some ports an Olympics Style format is used (example Bar Games).  In this format teams, will play multiple types of activities vs other teams; sometimes in the same night.  Each game win is recorded each night for each activity vs each opponent.   The wins for each activity are totaled as the season progresses.  Points are awarded for each event (activity) based on how many wins teams accumulated compared to the other teams in the league that season.  (max points equal to the number of team in the league, min 1 point, unless forefeet than 0 points) Teams that tie are awarded the same number of points.  Some activities may be assigned a multiplier.  (example teams may vote to have points for one activity doubled)

      Scoring Examples:

      • A league with 8 teams.  The team with the best results for that activity will be awarded 8 points, the team with the 2nd results for that activity will get 7 points, if the next two teams tie with the same results they will each get 6 points, and the team with the 5th best results will get 4 points, and so on...
      • A league with 4 teams.  A team doesn't show and never participates in one of the activities.  Then the team with the best results would get 4 points, 2nd best 3 points, 3rd best 2 points, and the team that did not show would not get any points
    • What about policies, rules, or things not covered in the FAQ or rules for the activity?

      (1) Contact us and ask
      (2) Ask the head referee at the field
Be Social Richmond reserves the right to modify any rules or policies when and as needed.

    • Ejections

At their discretion, BSR staff may eject players from the game for the night.

      • Ejected players will be evaluated for eligibility to play the following week (up to league expulsion by the head ref and owner by the day before the next league games) the week after the ejection occurred

Electable infractions include but are not limited to…

      • Fighting
      • Unwanted physical contact with BSR staff or other players in the league **
      • Abusive language **
      • Arguing **
      • Unacceptable verbal or visual acts **

**At the ref’s discretion they may first give a warning for these infractions; escalating to ejection at their discretion

    • Safety

PLAYER SAFETY IS ALWAYS THE #1 PRIORITY.

      • BSR staff can remove a player from the game at any time if they feel the player is a safety concern to themselves, other players, referees, etc.
      • It’s the ref’s call to determine if and when a player taken out of the game can return to playing.

If you have a safety concern, please let BSR staff know immediately.

Email any safety concernts to james@besocialrichmond.com

  • League team captains

    • What are team captain responsibilities?

If you volunteer to be a team captain for a team you didn’t start:
        (1)  Communicate any league messages you receive to your team
        (2)  Help make sure your teammates know when and where games are played
        (3)  Organize your team at games as serve as the POC for referees to talk to
        (4)  Familiarize yourself with the rules
        (5)  Serve as an example for your team & help ensure sportsmanship
        (6)  If you have a question first look in the FAQ, sport info tab, sport rules tab, and if you can’t find the answer email us
** Do let us know ASAP for any issues your experiencing so we can see what we can do to help

      If you created a team:
        (1)  All of the same things listed above for those who volunteer to captain a team they did not start plus
        (2)  You are responsible for ensuring your teams roster reaches the minimum team size
        (3)  You are responsible for ensuring your teams roster qualifies for any gender requirements
        (4)  If you think you will need free agents for your team send an email to BSR within 4 days after registration closes
        (5)  Your team roster must have the minimum number of paid players minus the number of players your team deposit holds within 10 days after registration closes  (example:  cornhole teams need 6 players and the deposit covers 2 players; so a minimum valid cornhole team needs 4 paid players by 10 days after registration closes)

    • How do I register a team?

On the website home page there is a registration section that displays all active open registrations; click on a link to register a team.  The same link can be found on the Info tab for each league.

Once you have registered a team a link will be provided for you to share with those whom you would like to have join your team.

    • Where can I find my team link?

      (1)  Your team link can be found in the registration confirmation email you received
      (2)  You can always obtain your team link by logging into the BSR website, click on your email in the top right, select “my teams”, select the team, and the link can be found just above the team roster

    • How does the team deposit work?

The deposit from team captains is held to ensure teams fill out to the minimum number of paid players needed for the team.  As team rosters fill with paid players the deposit will begin to be refunded.  A deposit will only be held if a team is unable to fill out it's roster with paid players, including free agents.
Example:  a cornhole team has a minimum number of 6 players needed for its roster.  The team deposit is covers the last two players to pay.  The team captain will pay their player fee plus a team deposit.  The deposit in this case is for players 5 & 6.  When players 2,3,4 register and pay nothing happens.  But when player 5 registers and pays that portion of the team deposit will be refunded to the captain.  And the remaining balance will be refunded when the 6th player registers and pays.  Additional players can still continue to register.
Note:  paid free agents can be added to your teams roster and they will count as paid players.  BSR cannot guarantee free agents will be available for all sports all seasons; but we are usually able to help.

    • TIP for team deposit

A team deposit paid by credit card may never actually even be collected.
Purchases made on credit card are billed in the next billing cycle so typically from the day a team deposit would be paid by credit card until you would have to pay that bill would range from 29 to 58 days depending when you paid and how long until your next statement cycle.  As long as your team would reach a minimum number of paid payers before your next statement cycle your credit card be refunded the full deposit; thus technically you never would have paid the team deposit.
NOTE:  that is how you can “work the system”.  The key is you still must get your team to the minimum number of paid players.

    • Can I pay for unpaid players on my team?

Yes, team captains can pay for unpaid players on their teams and then collect the money from the players at what may be a more convenient time.  To do so log into the BSR website.  Click on your email in the top right and select “my teams”.  Click on the team in question.  This will show you your team roster and you can select and deselect players you may choose to pay for.  And then check out using the PayPal button.

    • Can I register a partial team?

Before registering a partial team contact us.  If there are enough free agents we may advise you to register the partial team and BSR would assign X free agents to your roster.  Otherwise we may advise that you register as a free agent and have your friends link to you
(see FAQ for League free agents – how to register with friends)

    • How long do I have to add players to my roster?

Players can continue to be added to team rosters through the end of the 3rd week after the season starts
Players who register after the 2nd week after the season starts will not qualify for a league tshirt
And team rosters much reach a minimum size of paid players by 10 days after registration closes
Minimum size = The minimum rosters size for a team for that sport minus the team deposit
example:   cornhole team minimum size is 4 = minimum roster size 6 minus team deposit that covers 2 players

    • How can I find players for my team?

      (1) ask friends, family, coworkers, people from church or other organizations your apart of, etc…
      (2) for each sport each season BSR runs an advertisement on Facebook; sending a message to folks asking them to join your team
      (3) post on social media (your FB page, twitter, etc...)
      (4) encourage players on your team to help recruit
      (5) contact BSR and let us know you would like assistance recruiting players for your team

    • Can I change my team name, team tshirt color, or other preferences?

There is no way for you to change them in the system.
But, before registration closes you can send an email to info@besocialrichmond.com let us know what you would like to do and we will update it for you.

    • Team captain tshirts

Team captain tshirts ordered** before registratoin closes will include a C (for captain).   Shirts ordered after registratoin closes will likely not include the C, this is also true for additonal order shirts.

** ordered = registration completed and player fees paid

    • I selected a preferred level, day, and/or game times… will I get them?

The more options you select the more difficult it will be to honor as many as we can.  Selecting preferences means we will take what you most want into account, but we cannot guarantee them.  Historically we have been able to satisfy ~80% of preferences.

Levels – if there are more than 12 teams in the league we may split the league into divisions based on levels.  If we are unable to all teams will play together in the regular season and then split in the playoffs.

Days & times – sports played over multiple days and at multiple times per day; we can look to schedule more of your teams games on those days or at those times.

REMEMBER – the more preferences you select the more difficult it will be to honor them.  We strive to balance honoring everyone’s requested preferences equally.

One of you will need to register first; then that friend will share their registration link with others whom will use that link to register.

Once you have registered a team a link will be provided for you to share with those whom you would like to have join your team.
NOTE: they will need to use your registration link to join your registrations

    • I am registering with one or more friends; will we be placed on a team together for sure?

BSR will do what we can to ensure you and all friends you register with are placed together on a team in the sport you have signed up for.  But considering the number of teams in the league and number of free agents who registered for your sport that season this could prove difficult.  It is possible we may reach out to you to inquire if you may be open to other options that could include but are not limited to playing on different teams or together in a different sport.
We are usually able to register linked friends together in the sport they have signed up for.  If BSR is unable to by the time the league starts and you are not open to other options BSR will refund you all in full even after registration has closed.

    • Is there any limit to the number of friends I can register with?

    • What if I don't pay my player fee by the time registration closes?

Free agents who pay player fees before registration closes will be assigned to a team.  If fees are not paid before registration closes the player is not guaranteed a slot that season and the registration can expect to be removed.

    • I selected a preferred level, day, and/or game times… will I get them?

We use preference information to try and place players on teams who have also selected similar preferences.  This is also balanced with teams requesting free agents or if you will be added to an all free agents team.  Free agents will need to be flexible.

While a tournament could run as short as 3 hours or as long as 8+ hours; typically, we target tournaments to last 4-5 hours. Factors like the number of teams involved, weather, and number of games that can run at the same time factor into the actual tournament length

    • What do you get for winning?

Check the info page for each tournament as each tournament is independent from another. Any awards for winning will depend on the sport, number of teams, sponsors, and other factors like these mentioned

    • What is the refund policy?

      Team registration fees are non-refundable.

Exception:  If Be Social Richmond has to cancel both the originally scheduled and the makeup day the team captain will be provided a code to register for a future league with a value equal to the team fee paid for the tournament minus $20 for administrative costs.

    • What happens if there is bad weather or some sort of disaster?

Any cancelations or delays will be posted on the Be Social Richmond website in a yellow alert bar at the top of the page.  This will be posted at least 1 hour prior to the start time of the earliest event/game that day. If there is no posting by that time assume the event is on. After 1 hour before event/game time, any cancellations will be done at the location by the BSR staff

    • What happens if the tournament is canceled?

Each tournament will have one makeup date posted. A canceled tournament will then be run on the makeup date.  If the makeup date is also canceled; there will be no additional makeup dates.

    • What happens if the tournament is stopped early?

Any tournament that has run for longer than 1 hours will be considered official. If the makeup date is available the tournament may be continued on that date. If the early stoppage prevents a tournament winner from being identified and the tournament had cash & prize awards. The cash and prizes will either all be donated to charity or added to the prize pool for the next tournament for that sport. (BSR mgt will decide in the days following the tournament)
